* Clinical microbiology: This is branch of microbiology, which includes identification of pathogens, susceptibility of some organisms to antimicrobial agents. Medical technologist with specialization in clinical microbiology can determine nature and extent of infections and public health problems.

* Body Fluids: It includes study includes analysis of chemical, physical and microscopic parameter of body fluids like urine.

* Coagulation: It is study of homeostasis in humans.

* Immunodiagnostics: It is application field of immunology. This specialty area requires basic knowledge of cellular and humeral immunity system, specific and nonspecific immunity, antigens, antibodies, receptors, cytokines and major histocompatibility complex. Immunodiagnostic tests are used to detect infection caused by bacteria, fungi, viruses and other agents. These tests are also useful in detection and study of immunological diseases like hypersensitivity, autoimmunity, immuno deficiencies and hyperproliferative disorders.

* Histology: Is a branch that deals with body tissues. Medical technologist with specialization in histology prepares samples of body tissues for test to detect different disease.

* Toxicology: It is study of some toxic chemicals on living organisms, which includes symptoms, mechanisms, treatments and detection of different types of poisoning.

* Virology: Virology is also a branch of microbiology that deals with study of biological viruses, virus structures and classification and different dieses caused by them.

* Cytogenesis: It is branch of cytology, which deals with chromosomes. Cytogenesis is important in detection and therapy of heredity diseases.
