The medical technologists have a very responsible job in the medical diagnosis, because they have to perform the various tests for samples from the patient. The doctors depend on these reports for the further diagnosis of the problem. If wrong reports are prepared, they may affect the whole treatment.

Therefore, there are some criteria for good medical technologists, which the medical technologists have to, full fill. Then only they would be able to perform the tests correctly. These criteria for good medical technologists can be divided in to different types as the mental, physical, educational and about the certification.

The mental criteria for good medical technologists include the things as good concentration, so that they could focus on their job, while performing the tests. This is very important, as the tests have to be done very slowly and carefully. Moreover, they should have good understanding and analyzing power of the mind. Besides, they should be able to handle the pressure situation well.

In addition to the requirements mental abilities, they should also have the physical stamina and fitness for working for a long time and in tight schedules. They should have sound and good control over their hands. Moreover, there should not be any deformity in their hands and legs. They should have good vision for scrutinize the results of the tests. As the clinical lab consists of tests involving chemicals, they should have good ability for tolerating the fumes and the gases that may evolve. These criteria too, for good medical technologists are very essential.

The criteria for good medical technologists also include a good training and knowledge of the various aspects that are concerned with the tests. Therefore, ideally they should have a certification from, some good institution or organization. This should in general be a bachelor's degree, having the medical technology as one of the subjects. This certification also includes the training in the subjects as the chemistry, biological sciences, microbiology, mathematics, and statistics. Prior to intake of the students for the course, it is preferred that they have some background related to the health sciences.

Most of the organizations offer the certificates, which are registered from the monitoring organization for the medical technology. However if, this is not the case, then they should get issued their registration or certification from such an organization.

The medical technologists, who satisfy these criteria for good medical technologists, can become fine medical technologists in their career. However it is up to the medical technicians themselves whether, they become good technicians or not.
