Types Of Medical Technologists

Medical technologist deals with pre analytical, analytical and post analytical testing of patient's specimens. Medical technologists generate accurate laboratory data that help in detection and treatments of many diseases. There can be different types of medical technologists depending upon their area of specialization. In small labs medical technologists perform many different types of test but while those in large labs often specialized.

* Clinical chemistry technologists: Are those who analyze the chemical and hormonal composition of body fluids. They are specialized in field of chemical chemistry. Under this, many other tests can be categorized like general routine chemistry tests, endocrinology, pharmacology and toxicology.

* Blood bank technologist: these technologists type blood and match it to donor units of blood transfusions, these medical technologists has to be accurate and organized as even small mistake can be dangerous and fatal.

* Urinalysis: it is one of the oldest tests taken in laboratory. A medical technologists in urinalysis checks physical properties of urine like color and turbidity. They also look at chemical composition of urine, which involves test for blood, protein, glucose and white blood cells. Medical technologists also have to look for crystals blood cell and bacterial that is not supposed to be in urine.

* Cytotechnologists: these medical technologists have specialization in microscopic screening of cells for various abnormalities.

* Hematology and coagulation: hematology is study of blood. Medical technologists in hematology detect number and type of white blood cells with help of microscope. With help of cell counter, they count cells. Medical technologists can also tell ratio of RBC to plasma, which is known as hematocrit. CBC i.e. complete blood count is also done using this cell counter.

Owing to the numerous specialized fields in healthcare, many types of medical technologists are required by clinics or hospitals.

Coagulation is study of patient's hemostasis; it is stopping of blood flow from injured blood vessel. Medical technologists measures time required blood to clot to determine system is working properly or not. Medical technologists can detect factor that is not working properly. The two important tests done in coagulation are Protime and the Activated Prothrombin Time. If some anticoagulant is given to patient to prevent unnecessary clots then medical technologists can help in determination of dosage of medicine by doing those two tests.

There Is Little Chance That You Will Win That Medical Malpractice Law Suit

Out of the every five cases that make it to court, only one medical malpractice law suit comes out ahead. This is pretty bad odds by any standard. This happens because the strength of any medical malpractice law suit depends upon the ability of the medical malpractice attorney to put up the technical and non-technical medical terms in a simple and legible language both for the jury and the judge. It also depends upon the capacity of the medical malpractice attorney to gather the required information to back the case. It takes a lot of effort to prove the merits of a medical malpractice law suit and since it involves a lot of expenses, most of the people prefer to settle for out-of-court offers. It easier for the aggrieved person to accept an apology and a modest sum of compensation money, than spend his/her time and money pursuing justice in the court of law - that may never happen in the end. What It Takes To Improve The Chances To Win Your Medical Malpractice Law Suit The claimant ne...

The concerns of confidentiality and electronic medical records falling into the wrong hands are grossly exaggerated. To put these concerns on confidentiality and electronic medical records intrusive capability, the software developers have added several security measures to insure that only those who need to know about your information get it and the information that the doctor is reading is really about you: * ...
