Medical technologist and medical equipment are the two elements that go hand in hand to diagnose a problem and suggest a remedy. A medical technologist is a trained health care worker who knows the equipments better. Different kinds of instruments and equipments are needed for different treatments. Medical technologists do specialization in a particular medical technology during the course. Training includes the theoretical and practical knowledge of the subject and related instrument. The exact measurements of the equipment are well known to the technologist. Medical technologist and medical equipments are very much dependant on each other.

There are several basic types of equipment depending on their use. Diagnostic equipment includes machines like medical imaging machines, used to help in diagnosis. For example, ultrasound and MRI machines, X ray machines and PET and CT scanners. Medical professionals like radiographers do assist these types of instruments. Secondly therapeutic equipment is there that includes medical lasers, infusion pumps and LASIK surgical machines.

Life support equipments are used in the ICUs and are necessary to maintain a patient's bodily function at optimum level. These include ECMO, medical ventilators, heart-lung machines, dialysis machines and many more.

Medical monitors allow medical staff to compute a patient's medical state such as patient vital signs and other parameters including EEG, ECG, blood pressure, and dissolved gases in the blood. Special care is taken by the medical technologist to handle the equipment.

Medical laboratory equipment gives support to analyze blood, urine and genes. Medical technologist and medical equipment are crucial elements of a treatment.

A Biomedical equipment technician or BMET is a vital element of the healthcare delivery system as the technician made specialization in handling medical equipment. Employed primarily by hospitals, BMETs are the people responsible for maintaining a facility's medical equipment in support to technologists who use it.
