Risk Factors for Medical Technologists are many owing to the fact that these technologists are exposed to strains of infection regularly. The medical technologists should be aware of the different risk factors that would be associated with their treatment options. As we all know, that every coin has two sides, some of the treatment may or may not possess the risk factors. The medical technologists have to be aware of the same and inform the patient in advance, if there would be any side effect of the treatment. The medial technologists have to be very alert all the time while treating the patients to avoid the risk factors. Some of the major risk factors are:

* Insufficient information for performing a requested task or a task on demand.

* Occupational dangers like high voltage, back injury, accidental exposure to radiations, chemicals, repetitive stress injuries, exposure of the blood or the body fluids.

* Unreasonable orders deemed by the technologist

* Demand or request of the technologist for going beyond his job.

* Serviced or inadequately maintained equipments used for the tests

Therefore, it is very important to establish the guidelines procedures and policies for covering all the risk factors for medical technologists. The technologist should document all such incidents that he feels would have an adverse effect. This preserved and recorded documentation will help in assisting the technologist to recall the facts of the patient's condition, if in case, he is asked to explain his actions. It is crucial for the technologist to know about all the possible risk factors. If there is anything of concern, it should be treated and ended in a proper way with his supervisor.

Before treating any patient, especially women, the medical technologist has to make it sure by asking her if she is pregnant or breast-feeding. Because certain procedures used in the treatment may prove harmful to the fetus or the feeding baby. Before starting the course of treatment, the medical technologist should explain the procedure briefly to the patient and should be able to convince him for the same. He has to start the treatment only after the patient's concern. The most important of all risk factors for medical technologists is the fact that he is answerable to the patients who undergo the treatment.
